Retail Clearance in Scotforth

Scotforth is in the southern part of Lancaster, on the A6 between the city centre and the university. It was originally a separate village before being absorbed into the city, and some of its original terraces can still be seen along parts of Hala Road and Scotforth Road.

Those surviving terraces are the tightest part of the job here: narrow frontages, no driveway, on-street parking and stairs built for the furniture of the time. The later housing around them is far more forgiving, with room to load.

Being on the bus route between the university in the south and Morecambe in the north, the area has a fair amount of let and shared property. Student and tenancy work runs to the academic calendar with hard end-of-tenancy deadlines, so saying it is a let changes how we plan the visit.

The A6 through the suburb is busy and frontages onto it leave little room to stop. Where we cannot get close, we plan for a carry rather than assuming a tailgate load. St Paul's Church and its primary school are the landmarks.
